Prof. M. Bavakutty (1978-1985, 1998-2007) Prof. M. Bavakutty is a senior library professional in the country and was former University Librarian, Professor and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calicut. He initially started his career as a college librarian at M.E.S. Ponnani College (1968-69) and in Farook College, Calicut (1970-72), then joined as Lecturer of Library and Information Science, University of Kerala (1972– 1977). After that he served in number of prestigious positions like, Deputy University Librarian, University of Calicut (1977 – 1987); University Librarian, University of Calicut (1987 – 1998); Professor of Library Science, University of Calicut (1998 – 2000);Dean of Faculty of Humanities; Registrar, University of Calicut (2000 – 2001); He retired from University of Calicut in 2007. He had the unique honor to establish Library and Information Science post graduate and research courses in three Universities, viz University of Calicut, Pondicherry University and Kannur University in 1978, 2007 and 2009 respectively. He has contributed immensely in developing the C.H.M.K. library of Calicut University as a modern and well organized library. Under the supervision of Prof. Bavakutty 13 Ph.D's were awarded. He authored 7 books and edited 5 books. He published 7 articles in international journals; 51 papers were published in professional journals and 38 professional papers were presented in international and national conferences and seminars. He contributed much to Library and Information Science profession in India. |

Prof. M. Parameswaran (1985-2004) Prof. M. Parameswaran joined Kerala University Library as an Assistant Librarian in March 1968. He joined as a lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Calicut in November 1974. In May 1985 he was appointed as Reader and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science. Under the leadership of M. Parameswaran, the Department conducted self-financed BLISc evening courses from 1993 to 1999. He was promoted to Professor under the career advancement scheme with retrospective effect from March 2002. Prof. Parameswaran retired from service on 31st March 2004. He has published three books in Malayalam and two in English. He has also published more than 30 papers in English and about as many literary articles in Malayalam. He was the winner of the Kendra Sahithya Academy Award for the best Tamil-Malayalam translation on March 21, 2014. He is a member of national bodies like ILA, IASLIC, and IATLIS and International Organizations like the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO). |

Dr. Raju M. Mathew (1988-2006) Dr. Raju M. Mathew was the Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Calicut University. He joined the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Calicut in August 1988 as a Lecturer. He ssupervised and guided 12 doctoral research works, and published research papers between 1982 and 1987. Several studies on the current global economic crisis, knowmatics, knowledge industries, knowledge banks, and educational reforms have been published. He retired from service on 31st March 2006. |

Dr. Jalaja V. (1988-2011) Dr. Jalaja V. was the Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Calicut University. She joined the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Calicut in August 1988 as a Lecturer. She was promoted to Reader in 2000 and Associate Professor in 2006. She was a member of the Senate of Calicut the University of Calicut, as well as the Academic Council and the Faculty of Humanities. Dr. Jalaja supervised and guided 19 PhD students, 5 M.Phil. and 150 M.L.I.Sc. dissertations. She was a counsellor for IGNOU from the very beginning and continued it in the midst of her multiple academic programmes. She is a life member of several professional associations like, ILA, IASLIC, KLA and KELPRO. She retired on May 31, 2011, after nearly 23 years of service as a Library and Information Science teacher. |
